According to Satakunnan Kansa, a local newspaper, NATO membership would cost Finland about 70 million euros a year. That's only a 3,5% increase. With Russia heading the wrong way it's about time we drop the "let's stay neutral" argument, join NATO and switch from a conscript army to a professional army. We haven't had a credible national defense for years:
MOSCOW - Russia’s media and culture watchdog pledged Wednesday to take tough measures against any publications in the country insulting religious feelings.
“Measures envisaged in Russian legislation, including the cancellation [of a body’s] registration, will be taken if some Russian media issue materials insulting religious feelings,” the Federal Service for the Oversight of Legislation in Mass Communications and the Protection of Cultural Heritage said.

I do see the point in joining NATO because the only conceivable military threat comes from Russia. However, you take this issue on a completely different level; hate. To make a blanket statement that you hate the whole nation because of person/s in power is/are unsatisfactory is shocking in the pre WW sort of way. Do you really mean that you hate Russia?

And no, I don't hate every Russian. I hate the overall political/societal mood they have had for the past history.
I am sure, you are fully aware that the Russians don't have a history that have brought them gently into a full fledged democracy. They have never had anything but autocracy, and what they have there right now is, if an improvement, far from what you and I call a democracy. Putin and his cronies basically own the media thus having a monopoly what Ivan and Ivana will hear. To me this just isn't a reason enough to hate either one of them.
Okay,I'm Russian and it's not nice to hear that you hate Russia.I do agree Russia isn't perfect because of it's leaders and the government.But nobody is perfect,like England for it's mistakes and America.But it's not our fault some people start doing things "uncontrollable" because we have so many people in our country.

I'm Russian and I see what is going on. It can be surprising for you, but being Russian I hate Russia. Really, I don't lie. People here drink a lot. The country suffers from alchogolism, drugs, they lose their jobs, become criminal elements, nothing is told about this in media (now media is like a soviet media - "everything is great, there are no crimes etc.") So that's the one reason why I hate Russia - because it lies to people from media.

Not all Russians are like that. But they will be such people if they will have a chance to become alcoholics, drugmen and so on.
Historically, Russia was a great land. But the whole territory, satellite-states included, has degenerated immensely beginning with the assassination of Grigori Rasputin. Then the Czar and his family were murdered. Then the October Revolution destroyed the government. Then the Soviet regime murdered dissidents and gave power to the Kulaks. Then Russia corrupted by insidious intrigue-filled cold war with the Americans, who also simultaneously abandoned all their principles. Now Russia is a crime-ridden hellhole with nearly 700,000 orphans, and the USA (CIA, etc) is an evil war-criminal empire the likes of which has never before existed on this planet. I do not hate, but I do loathe what has happened to both of these formerly great countries due to degeneration and intrigue. Mutually assured cultural destruction!
