Why naturism/nudism is not natural

Naturists/nudists often claim that their way of life is more natural, that being nude is about "returning to nature." I'm going to show that this isn't the case, that the so-called naturists are in fact acting in a way that's fundamentally against nature or, more specifically, against man's place in nature.

One reason why many perceive nakedness as natural is because, well, if nature (or some supernatural being) had "wanted" humans to wear something, we'd all be covered in fur. But this isn't so: the only reason why we never evolved fur is precisely because we were able to manufacture and wear clothes. Had we not had this ability - the ability to use tools according to our relatively superior mental capabilities - we'd have needed fur to survive, at least in this environment. We were never meant to walk around naked. Our ability to make things compensates for our deficiencies such as our weak physical strength or agility. We adapt by thinking.

In other words, had there existed "naturists" in these latitudes a few thousands years ago, they'd have simply died out. So much for being natural! Another ironic feature of modern Western naturism is that it's been made possible by technology. Heating, among other things, makes it possible for people to walk around naked in their homes.

I really don't care if people choose to make themselves look ridiculous by adopting a naturist lifestyle, but some people drag their children into it and that's what bothers me. Of course they argue that there's nothing sexual about their perversion, but this is just wishful thinking. Their children, teenage girls most worryingly, are exposed to lustful eyes.

There are of course other, more social arguments against naturism while the above dealt with biological aspects. Also, different environments favor different traits, which means that there are environments where wearing clothes is a disadvantage.

What would you care to say about shaving?

Shaving what?

Shaving has a lot to do with trends.

Note that we inherited body hair. The fact that we're covered in hair doesn't mean that it's not obsolete to a large degree. Maybe there just hasn't been any evolutionary pressure against body hair. Also, cultural evolution plays a role here. Trends can change quickly but biological evolution is slow. One century may prefer moustaches but another may not so that biological evolution never seems to go anywhere in this respect.

To the person who posted this blog, you obviously know very little about nudism and naturism when you're bothered about children being at these places. They are much safer at nudist resorts than at non-nudist resorts since they look out for them better than at other places. It's about respect of the human body. And, anyone that is out of place or goes there for the wrong reasons is asked to leave and never return. Repeated offenders will be arrested.

And, if that's not enough, how about this...at non-nude beaches and such, ever wonder what guys are looking at? Babes in bikinis. You know why they like looking at them? Because they tease the mind into creating fantasies of lust. Lust exists in the mind, NOT by what one wears. However, it's much easier to lust over a girl wearing a skimpy bikini than it is over the same girl wearing nothing at all.

Bikinis SHOW OFF the parts that are meant to be covered!! Did you ever think of that?! With nudism, no one is looking at your body. A female breast or buttocks of either gender is no more sexual than an arm or ear. And, lips are considered a sexual body part. Do we demand lips be covered up to avoid lustful fantasies? Grow up. The human body is beautiful. And, as I've said too many times to count before...NUDE IS NOT LEWD!

This is wishful thinking. A normal adult male will lust after naked women (and this includes sexually developed teenage girls).

Note that I'm not some social conservative who has a twisted view of human sexuality (such as that human sexuality should be repressed). I'm all for showing nipples on tv and allowing people to do whatever they want with their bodies for as long as they respect the right of others to do the same. It's just that in general I don't like it when parents drag their children into demonstrations, churches or force their lifestyles (be that nudism, vegetarianism or something else) onto them. It's about respecting your children and anyone who treats their children as some little "pet projects" are not respecting their children.

Of course they are.

The human body is beautiful.

And all art is relative, right? You can cover you walls with dog crap and someone will say it's art. There are plenty of beautiful human bodies but not all human bodies are beautiful. Of course, if plenty of humans with ugly bodies gather together and celebrate their ugliness by stating that their ugliness is in fact beauty then that's something that'll lift their spirits. Some maybe nudism is a form of therapy.

I think "naturists" are like naked puritans because their ideal requires the repression of the sexual impulse, to a large degree.

Thr entire premise of this post misses the point. This post assumes humans are not meant to be naked, because we couldn't live in cold weather environments without clothes.

Answer me this..where does a polar bear live? a lion? a tropical fish? They all live in an environment in which they have the natural protection to live in.

Human beings are living in unnatural places with the aid of clothes and heated homes. If we truly lived in harmony with our environment like all other living things on this planet, we would live in warm weather environments where clothes and heated homes are not needed.

Being naked is entirely natural. You were born natural. You only need clothes when you live in an environment that is not natural for our human bodies to survive in.
